Montreal's bring-your-own-wine restaurants have comme a long way. I remember as a student trolling Duluth Ave. and Prince Arthur Sts. with friends and a few bottles of wine in search of the restaurant with the shortest queue and the hottest waiter. We usually ended up at the same Italian spot on Duluth, where the carpaccio was edible, the pasta was watery, and the dessert choices were limited to three kind of tartufo.
What can I say? It was cheap, and there wasn't that much choice on the BYOW landscape.
